What is Hair Restoration?

Hair restoration is a procedure people opt for as a result of excess or untimely hair loss.

There are two ways to get a hair transplant:
1. Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS): In this procedure, the surgeon removes a part of the scalp and from the back of the head. It may be a 6 to a 10-inch strip of skin which is sewed back. The area will be covered by the existing hair. The surgeon will then proceed to divide the removed scalp into 600 to 2000 grafts. Each of these grafts will contain an individual hair strand or a bunch of hairs, depending on the hair quality, shape, size.
2. Follicular Unit Extraction: This process requires Doctor to shave the scalp and remove the existing hair follicles, which will be replaced by the new hair grafts, similar to that of FUSS.
Both the procedures are done under the effects of anesthesia and take about 4 to 8 hours. The patient may be required to do more than 1 sitting.
Important Note: -
● Post-surgery the scalp may become very tender and need bandages for a day or two. Some amount of pain is normal and the Doctor will prescribe pain medications for the patient.
● The grafted will fall off in 2-3 weeks and new hair will take its place, within a few months. It may take 6-9 months for the complete hair growth.
